Uncle Gerges

Yesterday, the “pandemic of hate” has defeated Uncle Gerges Saba. I thought a lot before I wrote to you again a piece of news about the death of one of my friends. However, I am not writing in order to extend the grief, but for the purpose of consolation and to testify to the Truth. I would like to express my amazement at those to whom the Holy Spirit grants that they overcome natural weaknesses for the sake of keeping their presence with God. Uncle Gerges had his own weakness. His years, that were almost a hundred, had stolen his sense of hearing. However, the Spirit, with His generosity, had compensated him with His living presence in him. In the Church, he was always in his utmost presence, captivated by the Light and by those words which it is not lawful for a man to utter (2 Cor 12:4). His fondness for you was great. Yet, you should not delay him from the prayer of his Church, nor rush him to get out of it before having distributed his smiles to old and young. I have written to tell you that Uncle Gerges has finished his race. He has become entirely prayer.
