The apostle's words about the gifts of the Holy Spirit are words about the living Church in her journey to her wholeness (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11), they are enduring words to the brethren in the Church, both clergy and laity. There is no perfection in anything other than in receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is the Spirit of the orthodoxy of ecclesial life that we all acknowledge that every member in the community is a servant to the building of the Church, its growth and exaltation. Gifts are interconnected and harmonious. No confusion comes from the Holy Spirit; nor is there a static or locked list of the gifts. None of the gifts is the whole one: not the prophecy; nor the ministry; not the teaching; nor the leadership... how do the gifts get joined, and how are they practiced? With the love that gives preference to the others over oneself. This is ever the Spirit of the Church.
