The Meeting of Love

Following Saturday’s Liturgy, Father Nehme Saliba, who had recently recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, said: “yesterday, our friend (…) had a PCR test to detect the Coronavirus, the result of which was positive. I am going to see him. I will carry to him the body and blood of the Lord”. Two young men who were next to me heard him. With one voice, they both screamed: “No”! To their No, he replied: “Yes indeed, for consolation, encouragement and healing”. His reply was sufficient. Due to his experience, he is most knowledgeable in the brokenness of those who are thrown by the disease into lonely rooms, and also in opening the door to the Beloved Visitor Who wants to dine with us (Rev 3:20)! The ministry is both knowledge and courage, it is the rushing of the disciples in the direction of the rooms, the loneliness of which was broken by the Divine Visitor, saying: “I was sick and you visited Me” (Matthew 25:36)! This is the meeting of love, and to accompany those who minister to it with prayer and thanksgiving should be the concern of all of us.
