What do people base themselves on when they say about someone that he has "sportsmanship"? Is it that sports is a world to be morally emulated, in sacrifice, peace, cooperation and friendliness...? Let me confess to you. I have never used this expression before, in whatever context. I do not dislike sports, quite the contrary, I highly value it for other reasons, especially for its physical and psychological benefits... My issue is with the sports in Lebanon! Do we have the right to take, from the world parlance, goodness we rarely find in our reality? The world of sports in Lebanon differs from Lebanon in nothing. Clubs, sportsmen, fans, are mostly a body bitten by a sick ego, individually and collectively. We are warring peoples, on many levels, religiously and politically... No inclusive speech will be true with us before we learn to rejoice in the goodness, wherever it appears, in sports and elsewhere. Action is the spirit of the parlance.
