“James”, my grandson, increases my sadness over the children in our closed world. The child wants to discover things. He wants to get out; to roam freely with his parents outside the door; to pray “in the midst of the assembly”. He wants to show love to nature, to caress the roses, and smell their perfume; to eat in an outdoor place; to befriend; to play; to have blasts of wind pinch kisses from his cheeks; to challenge the freedom of birds; to stop the passing dogs; to chase the stray cats. He wants to see the faces; to see people’s eyes jumping with joy, upon seeing him; to recognize his indispensability in life, his magnificence to those near and far. I have once said that I think God will save us of this pandemic for the sake of the children’s joy. Today I am saying that He will do it for the sake of one child, a single child, any child.
